President Trump delivered his second State of the Union address last night before the 116th Congress, cabinet members, guests and other high-ranking political figures. During the speech, he repeated his calls for a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, detailing what he referred to as a “crisis” at the border.
Outside of his focus on immigration, Trump also made overtures to the nation regarding the need for bipartisan cooperation. The president spoke of infrastructure as a potential point of collaboration moving forward.
Republicans cheered Trump’s focus on border security. The Democratic response, delivered by former Georgia state rep. and gubernatorial-candidate Stacey Abrams, focused on the need for gun safety legislation and climate change policy, acting as a rebuttal to Trump’s agenda.
