Make your voice heard on International Women’s Day.
International Women’s Day has been celebrated for over 100 years in the United States and abroad. This year, the theme is “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change” – bringing a focus to innovations in education, science, and technology achieved by women.
Educational equity plays a significant role in this endeavor. According to the U.N., inequities in education are still tragically common. Education is a key aspect of survival and economic stability, and yet women make up more than 66% of the world’s population of illiterate people.
American women in STEM, like Katherine Johnson, a NASA mathematician who helped send the first Americans into space, have helped shape the modern world. Funding education in science, technology, math, and engineering for women is vital in continuing to support these changemakers.
